Reading my favourite IT-News site isn’t really fun anymore. Every day one can find some new silly idea of goverment or our jurisdiction. But what I found as news from last Saturday is definitely too much!
A major german news magazine published parts of an until now secret contract about giving the US goverment very intimate information about german citizens. Along names, date of birth, citizenship, religion and so on, which very understandable, in case I want to get into their country, they get very intimate details about myself too. This information includes my sexual preference! What the hell is so interesting about it? Do I get a man searching me, in case I should be lesbian? Or if they are especially nice, do I get some real hunk patting me down?
I really wonder what else might be interesting about germans…

Let me start with something from a bit farther away from Luton and my weekend first. Well, I’m not exactly from Luton, but I visited that nice place last year and will do again this year in late summer.

Anyway, back to the weekend. It was the weekend of the Spreewaldmarathon here, a big sports event with walking, running, canoing, inline skating and of course cycling. This year I had a friend from Sheffield visiting, and you know, personal competition and such things…, we did the 200km cycle marathon.

The only good thing we could say about the weather was, it was dry. After having done the first half with much headwind one starts to ask oneself, why we’re doing that? What is it, letting us lose our common sense and go for such silly things like riding with hundreds of people in cold and icky weather, without any chance of something like fame?

Anyway, before someone asks, we finished and survived, and it feels incredibly good, having done that.

Common sense is for people without imagination!
